Pavement Preservation Laborer

jOB dESCRIPTION

ViaSun Corporation is seeking a Pavement Preservation Laborer to join our rapidly growing team. The  person in this position is essential and assists the project team in ensuring timely and  successful completion of concrete and asphalt construction projects.

Essential FUNCTIONS

  • Works with concrete crew on and around concrete forms and assisting with  concrete pours & finishes 

  • Runs a vibrator and/or works the pump hose during concrete pours

  • Working with buckets and pump truck to place concrete 

  • Cleans up work sites, staging area, loading, and removing debris on a daily basis  and at completion of jobs 

  • Cleaning, inspection and maintenance of equipment and tools 

  • Grade checks and prep work prior to concrete and asphalt placement

  • Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools 

  • Assist concrete finishers 

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety glasses,  safety vest, boots, seat belt, gloves, etc. 

    • Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent all unsafe  actions, processes and behaviors observed 

    • Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members  and community 

  • Perform other duties as assigned

jOB rEQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with equipment, tools and materials used to pour and finish  concrete is preferred but not required 

  • Experience Raking, shoveling, finishing Asphalt is a major plus but not  required

  • Must have reliable transportation to the jobsite/office location 

  • Must be self-motivated and have ability to work well with others in a team  environment 

    • Maintain good attendance dependability and consistency 

    • Full-time position with overtime and some weekend and nighttime work  depending on job/projects requirements 

  • Current Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record in accordance  with company policy 

  • Must possess or willing to acquire a DOT Medical card 

  • Pass pre-employment drug test

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

wORK eNVIRONMENT

This job operates in an outdoor environment which is subject to weather conditions and  the elements.

education + experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

  • 6 months to 1 year working outside in all weather conditions

physical REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and climb all day on your feet for  long periods of time 

  • Must be able to frequently lift or move items up to 75 pounds 

  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration

  • Exposed to a variety of extreme cold and hot weather conditions
