parts runner/mechanic assistant

jOB dESCRIPTION

The Parts Runner/Mechanic Assistant will be responsible for pick-up and delivery of parts to and from area vendors, shop and to job sites. Assist Mechanics: oil changes, fueling of vehicles and equipment, other duties as assigned.

Essential FUNCTIONS
  • Pick-up and delivery of parts from area vendors, shop and deliver to job sites

  • Assist Mechanics: oil changes, fueling of vehicles and equipment, other duties as assigned

  • Prioritize timing and locations of delivery runs by consolidation of trips to best minimize time and mileage

  • Maintain daily log of trips and records of pick-ups / deliveries

  • Responsible for daily inspection of company provided delivery vehicle (pre/post trip)

  • Coordinate regular maintenance and repairs, as necessary on vehicles and equipment driven

  • Communicate with Parts Coordinator, Fleet Manager, Mechanics, and Foreman on job sites regularly to ensure timely delivery of parts and meet needs as they arise

  • Maintaining order and inventory of parts rooms at all locations

  • Maintain clean work area, assist in the clean-up of the shop, vehicles, and equipment

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, boots, seat belt, gloves, etc.

  • Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors observed

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members and vendors

  • Perform other duties as assigned

jOB rEQUIREMENTS
  • 6 months to 1 year working outside in all weather conditions

  • Valid Driver License with clean MVR record

  • Pass pre-employment Drug test

  • Must possess or willing to acquire a DOT Medical card

  • Ability to drive to office location

  • Maintain good attendance; full-time position with overtime and some weekend work depending on job/projects requirements

  • Strong Communication Skills (both verbal / written)

  • Ability to take direction, work independently and with little supervision

  • Ability to plan and prioritize deliveries for the day

wORK eNVIRONMENT

This job operates in an outdoor and mechanic shop environment which is subject to weather conditions, elements, loud noises, and machinery.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

physical REQUIREMENTS
  • The physical demands described must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and climb all day on your feet for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to frequently lift or move items up to 75 pounds.

  • Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

  • Exposed to a variety of extreme cold and hot weather conditions.
