Project engineer

jOB dESCRIPTION

​The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with day-to-day operations to assure project successes. Works with the Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager to assure projects are set up for success and communicate with Superintendents regarding any material deliveries, quantity verification, assisting with monthly pay request, reviewing submittals, assist with project logistics, all in accordance with project policy and procedure. 

Essential FUNCTIONS

        Leadership

  • Gain a full understanding of our safety policies and promote our safety culture.

  • Facilitate and participate in daily field visits to assist General Superintendent and Field Staff.

  • Continually provide oversight, mentorship, leadership to Project Administrators

    ​Business

  • Attend Safety and Professional Development Trainings.

  • Assist in project cost and revenue projections and gain an understanding of cost and revenue

  • Begin to develop a full understanding of company policy and procedure to successfully contribute to overall project success.

  • Attend all required Safety and Professional Development Trainings.

  • Communication

  • Provide a second point of contact for Owner field representative.

  • Facilitate communication between PROJECT level field staff and project management staff.

  • Actively participate in weekly team and production meetings.

  • Begin to develop relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, etc

        Tasks/Technical

  • Prioritizes tasks to achieve project successes

  • Monitors project performance with quantity and schedule verification, collect from field staff/reports and enter daily quantities and verify accurate time/cost entry in Heavy Job.

  • Responsible for preparation of information for backlog and job forecast report.

  • Responsible for the development and dispersing of submittals, project documents, and/or shop drawings as required

  • Responsible for documenting any delays or issues on the project

  • Assists the Project Manager with all financial related modifications.

  • Responsible for oversight of the development and issuance of subcontracts and purchase orders

  • Review pre-construction documents and attend pre-construction meetings

  • Responsible for development and updating of project schedules

  • Responsible for split maps or logistic planning for projects

  • Assist in development of pay applications

  • Responsible for accurate reporting of subcontracts to B2G and monitor for SBE compliance over all City of Phoenix contracts.

  • Responsible for job billing payment status / aging status and providing updates to project management team

  • Review applicability of subcontractor/vendor invoices for project quantities in Viewpoint, reconcile with Owner quantities, potential additions/adjustments, prior to forwarding to the Project Manager.

  • Responsible for Assurance of completion of clerical tasks to support construction field operations.

  • Other duties as assigned

jOB rEQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to multi-task over multiple projects ongoing at the same time

  • Proficient understanding of accounting software and relevant reports

  • Ability to use estimating software and procedures for proposal development

  • Proficient with MS Office applications.

  • Strong organizational, follow-through, and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Ability to “take ownership” of the job, think independently and be a problem solver.

  • Outstanding goal setting skills.

  • High degree of professionalism and strong work ethic.

  • Team player with proven motivational skills.

  • Understanding of the need for procedure and ability to follow thru.

  • Proficient with developing prioritization of self and Project Admin tasks.

education + experience
  • Construction Management degree or equal years of related work experience.

  • Experience in self-perform construction preferred

physical REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
